Program Identity & Fit

HCA Healthcare Riverside is a community-based, tertiary-level OB/GYN residency housed in a 542-bed Level I trauma center that manages over 3,500 deliveries annually, giving residents a high-volume, high-risk obstetric experience alongside broad subspecialty exposure in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Family Planning, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Training spans hospital-based tertiary care, private practice settings, and dedicated fertility/reproductive centers (Pacific Reproductive Center, HRC Fertility Center), exposing residents to a socioeconomically varied population including indigent, immigrant, and private-pay patients. The program maintains institutional research infrastructure (a research coordinator, statistician, and research director) and access to HCA's national scholarly activity network, positioning research as a supported but not central pillar of training. Structured subspecialty block rotations across all four years suggest a program oriented toward producing well-rounded generalist OB/GYNs, with an explicit institutional emphasis on recruiting physicians comfortable serving a diverse, safety-net-adjacent patient base.
