Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based, four-year ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency within the HCA Florida East Coast network, based in Margate (Fort Lauderdale suburb) with a Level III NICU supporting high-risk obstetric management. The program emphasizes an even split between obstetrics and gynecology, with gynecologic faculty focused on minimally invasive surgery (robotic and conventional laparoscopy), weekly simulation labs, and rotations through maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, and REI, structured to build broad generalist competency rather than push subspecialization. As part of HCA Healthcare's national GME system, residents have access to a large-scale research infrastructure (30+ million annual patient encounters, national research coordinators, an in-house journal) though scholarly work is positioned as supportive of clinical training rather than the program's central mission. Serving as a clinical training site for Nova Southeastern University medical students, the program appears to value well-rounded clinical/surgical competence, multidisciplinary teamwork with midwives and NPs, and readiness for general OB/GYN community practice.
