Program Identity & Fit

Founded in 1957, this is a long-standing academic OB-GYN program based at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, a 1,100-bed Level I adult trauma center serving as the primary clinical teaching site for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. The program trains six residents per year within a large academic medical center hosting 17 residency and 23 fellowship programs, and explicitly frames its mission around preparing physicians for contemporary practice in urban and suburban community hospitals rather than purely quaternary academic settings. Teaching is stated as a core value, with residents completing a Stanford-developed teaching curriculum and instructing medical students directly, and the program has a strong track record of graduates pursuing fellowships (REI, MFM, gyn onc, family planning, MIGS, urogynecology) as well as alumni returning to academic and GME leadership roles.
