Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based, university-affiliated OB-GYN residency at a 632-bed teaching hospital in Dearborn, MI, with Level II trauma status and primary stroke center accreditation, academically affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine. The program emphasizes graduated clinical autonomy across gynecologic surgery, obstetrics, and ambulatory care, with a longstanding ACGME-accredited structure (since 1956) and participation in SEMCME, a multi-institutional Detroit-area consortium offering shared research workshops and oral exam preparation. Each resident completes a mentored, hypothesis-driven research project presented at departmental and hospital-wide research days, reflecting an expectation of scholarly participation rather than a heavily investigative identity. The program frames its mission around training physician leaders who integrate evidence-based practice with collaborative, cross-disciplinary patient care in a diverse, community-anchored population.
