Atrium Health Navicent/Mercer University School of Medicine is a university-affiliated community-academic hybrid program serving as the primary tertiary referral center for Central Georgia, drawing high-acuity obstetric and gynecologic pathology through its Perinatal Regional Outreach Program (29 counties) and Urogynecology/Gyn-Oncology services (30+ counities). With 16 residents (4/year) and a blended faculty of full-time academic physicians and private-practice clinical faculty, the program emphasizes a "best of both worlds" exposure to community-based and subspecialty-driven care, including robotic surgery and simulation training. Structured CREOG-focused didactics, board prep, and a dedicated research rotation support both fellowship-track and clinical-practice-track graduates, with explicit institutional messaging that higher-acuity referral pathology gives residents "an edge in the fellowship and post graduate job market."
