Program Identity & Fit

NUMC's Internal Medicine program is a large (92-position), dually ACGME/AOA-accredited categorical program anchored at a Long Island safety-net, Level 1 trauma hospital, functioning as a SUNY Stony Brook clinical campus with major osteopathic and Caribbean-school affiliations. The hospitalist-model inpatient structure, 4+1 scheduling, high admission volume (10,500+/year to Medicine), and an unusually dense array of in-house fellowships (cardiology, GI, pulm/CC, nephrology, endocrinology, hematology-oncology, rheumatology via NYU-LI) signal a program built to expose residents broadly across subspecialties and funnel a meaningful subset into fellowship.
