The University of Kentucky Med-Peds program is a long-standing (established 1983), university-based combined training program situated within an academic tertiary/quaternary referral center, pairing an incorporated children's hospital with the high-acuity UK Chandler Hospital to draw patients from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The four-year curriculum is explicitly structured to prepare residents for the full range of combined-training outcomes—outpatient primary care, hospital medicine, subspecialty fellowship, academics, and research—rather than steering toward a single track.
