St. Joseph's is a large, unopposed community-hospital family medicine program with academic affiliation to SUNY Upstate Medical University, giving residents undivided procedural and clinical volume (deliveries, codes, inpatient management) without competition from other residency services. The Family Medicine Center, an NCQA Level 3 patient-centered medical home serving a geographically diverse, refugee-rich, and biopsychosocial-complex population, anchors a full-scope training model spanning obstetrics, hospitalist medicine, and extensive office procedures (colposcopy, joint injections, skin surgery).
