Valley Hospital Medical Center's Family Medicine Residency is a community hospital-based, osteopathic-friendly (DO and MD faculty) program built around a strong continuity-of-care philosophy, anchoring residents in the Family Medicine Continuity Clinic across all three years with expanding responsibility, supplemented by a second continuity site (Southwest Medical Associates) in years two and three. Training blends inpatient and outpatient core rotations (OB, pediatrics, internal medicine, general surgery, emergency medicine) with community hospital and pediatric hospital exposure, extended-care facility and home-visit experiences, and a broad elective structure allowing individualized subspecialty exposure (e.g., headache medicine, sports medicine, dermatology, geriatrics, palliative care). The program emphasizes full-spectrum, longitudinal, whole-person primary care delivery within the Las Vegas community and appears to value resident-driven pursuit of niche clinical interests, with faculty mentorship supporting fellowship pathways when residents develop them organically during training. Research is not structurally emphasized but residents have presented at regional academic meetings when self-initiated.
