This is an osteopathically-grounded, community-based Family Medicine Residency sponsored by LECOM, training physicians to deliver comprehensive primary care to medically underserved populations in Erie, PA. The primary training site, LECOM Medical Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion, has recently expanded its cardiac, ICU, and emergency capabilities, and the program supplements inpatient pediatrics, OB-Gyn, and veteran's health through community partnerships with UPMC Hamot, OB-Gyn Associates of Erie, and the Erie VA. Osteopathic manipulative medicine is structurally embedded (bimonthly OMT labs, quarterly OMM lab participation, recent osteopathic recognition), and the didactic structure emphasizes hands-on procedural skills (suturing, Nexplanon, airway management) alongside board-preparation resources. Research and scholarship are encouraged rather than central, with optional dual master's degrees (Medical Education, Public Health, Health Services Administration, Biomedical Ethics, Cannabinoid Therapeutics) signaling institutional support for broadened, non-clinical academic interests without emphasizing hypothesis-driven investigation.
