Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based 6-6-6 Family Medicine program in Norristown, PA, built on a continuity clinic lineage dating to 1979 and now housed within a modern 171-bed hospital with Level III NICU and obstetric capacity, giving residents exposure to a full-scope community practice including OB. The continuity clinic population is densely urban, largely Spanish-speaking and pediatric-heavy, positioning the program around care for an underserved, linguistically diverse local community rather than a tertiary referral base. Faculty expertise spans pediatrics, sports medicine, OB/GYN, behavioral health, quality improvement and acupuncture, suggesting a broad-scope, generalist training model rather than a research- or subspecialty-driven identity. As a young program (first graduating class 2022), it emphasizes close-knit mentorship and community integration over established academic infrastructure.
