Program Identity & Fit

A community-based program sponsored by the Great Plains Medical Foundation, training 5 residents per year across the INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center campuses, with an academic affiliation to the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Residents rotate at INTEGRIS Health Baptist, Baptist Portland Avenue and Southwest Medical Center, the Epworth Villa continuing care retirement community and nursing home, public schools, free clinics and specialists' offices, with continuity practice at a 13,035 square foot family medicine center that the program reports recorded 14,343 patient visits in 2018. The inpatient family medicine service is supervised entirely by family physicians, and residents deliver babies including cesarean sections under family physician supervision, alongside longitudinal geriatrics and behavioral medicine curricula. Each resident works with a personal advising team composed of a physician and a behavioral scientist, and the program states its graduates practice in urban, suburban and rural settings.
