In His Image is a Christian, community-based family medicine residency at St John Medical Center in Tulsa, an explicitly faith-integrated program that frames medical practice as ministry, with an inpatient service spanning obstetrics through geriatrics and a full-spectrum outpatient clinic serving a mixed-payer, multicultural population. The program is built around whole-person care, behavioral medicine, procedural training, and named Areas of Concentration (Behavioral Medicine, Missions, Obstetrics, Outreach), with up to four international rotations, a dedicated Good Samaritan Health Services outreach infrastructure (clinics and mobile medical units), and a post-residency Global Health Fellowship preparing graduates for long-term overseas medical ministry. Research exists as an elective option rather than a driving expectation, and the program's stated outcomes emphasize graduates entering underserved domestic practice, global health work, and medical missions rather than subspecialty fellowship. Structurally and culturally, IHI values spiritual formation, community/family integration (retreats, Bible studies, mentoring ministries), and a demonstrated calling toward whole-person, cross-cultural, and underserved care over academic or research credentials.
