Crestwood Family Medicine is a new, community-based residency at a 180-bed acute care hospital in Huntsville, Alabama, built around a dedicated Continuity Clinic designed to give residents a large, growing outpatient panel alongside inpatient, obstetric, and surgical exposure. The mission text (borrowed largely from its sister Internal Medicine program) emphasizes producing well-rounded physicians ready for "real world practice in the community of their choice," with attention to underserved populations, systems-based quality improvement, and public health application rather than subspecialty pipeline-building. Research is framed as foundational literacy (understanding QI/patient-safety research methodology) rather than a scholarly output requirement, and there is no fellowship infrastructure or academic tertiary-care identity described. As an inaugural-class program co-training alongside osteopathic medical students (ACOM, VCOM-Auburn, LMU-DeBusk), it appears to value adaptability, community commitment, and willingness to help build institutional culture from the ground up.
