This is a rural-focused, community-based family medicine training track affiliated with an established academic core program (Providence St. Peter in Olympia), with continuity clinic and "home base" in the critical access setting of Elma, serving the underserved Grays Harbor County population. The curriculum emphasizes full-scope rural practice: FM-obstetrics, an interprofessional team model spanning pharmacy, behavioral health, naturopathy, and rehabilitation therapies, a dedicated walk-in addiction medicine clinic, and procedural training that substitutes for interventional radiology services unavailable locally. Distinctive longitudinal threads include POCUS training, Lifestyle Medicine (with eligibility for ABLM certification), health systems management, and nursing home care, reflecting a design oriented toward producing broad-scope rural generalists rather than subspecialists. The program values residents drawn to interprofessional leadership, community integration, and tolerance for procedural and clinical autonomy inherent to a critical-access hospital environment.
