Program Identity & Fit

This is a three-year, community-based dermatology residency embedded in HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital, a full-service acute-care hospital serving Clay County, and structured around thirteen four-week blocks spanning general, complex medical, pediatric, and aesthetic dermatology, Mohs surgery, dermatopathology, and inpatient consults. Training emphasizes one-to-one faculty-resident ratios and includes a dedicated continuity clinic partnership with Volunteers in Medicine, a nonprofit serving indigent and uninsured patients, alongside private office, aesthetic, surgical, and emergency settings. Scholarly activity is structurally embedded rather than optional: residents complete a thesis project, annual manuscript, poster and podium presentations, an AAD Gross and Microscopic submission, and a quality improvement project, supported by protected research time each rotation. The program explicitly supports fellowship pursuit and highlights unusually heavy complex medical dermatology exposure (four dedicated blocks), signaling a preference for residents oriented toward subspecialized or academic dermatologic practice rather than purely cosmetic tracks.
